LUMEN Data Science is a student competition focused on the deep analysis of large datasets. The primary goal of the competition is to encourage students to develop teamwork, creativity, and analytical thinking. It also provides participants with an opportunity to win valuable cash prizes, connect with industry leaders through partnerships, and take a significant step toward their future careers.

This year’s competition challenge involves solving a task rooted in real-world business or scientific practices. The topic of this year’s task is Melanoma Classification in Dermatoscopic Skin Images, with a particular focus on fairness related to skin tone. Participants are required to develop a solution that addresses this challenge, and the best solutions will be awarded cash prizes:

  1. 1st place: €2000
  2. 2nd place: €1350
  3. 3rd place: €700
  4. Best Presentation Award: €150
